Welcome to what promises to be the most exciting source for information about Recovery Coaching. My name is Jan Brown; I am the current President of Recovery Coaches International (RCI) and thrilled to be writing a short update highlighting some of the news of our organization. First, I would like to congratulate the Get the Word Out Task Force for their efforts to create this ezine and for their work on developing a database for RCI. We’re now connected in a way that will boldly advance our work. In addition to receiving our quarterly newsletter, I hope you’ll also continue to visit the RCI Website. It contains up-to-date information about the specialized field of Recovery Coaching. You will also find a calendar on every page that lists upcoming events of interest to Recovery Coaches and addiction recovery professionals. There’s a section for members-only which contains marketing information, mp3 files for past teleconferences, the RCI brochure, etc. As a member, you’ll receive a password that will allow access to this section of the site. RCI has started a new level of membership which includes organizations. Be among the first, foundation members, to join as an organization. Of course, you can also take advantage of membership as an individual to participate in our growing, cutting-edge movement. In order to provide ongoing support and education to our field, RCI will be starting a Webinar series to educate our member coaches on topics related to addiction recovery. Stay tuned for the exact times and dates. The 2009 RCI Annual Membership Meeting will be held Monday, October 26, 2009, 4 pm PST – 6 pm PST, 7 pm EST – 9 pm EST. Mark your calendar and plan to attend. The call-in number is 712-775-7111, pin 2664688. It’s a yearly opportunity for RCI members to hear one another’s views, reports from our officers, and to participate in setting the course and direction for RCI’s future. I hope you will find your connection point and get involved with us. We have a dedicated set of officers and a Board that works hard to keep us focused. I’d love to hear from you and welcome your comments. Peace, Jan |
